The Medical Director of Ijede General Hospital, Dr. (Mrs.) Olufunmilayo Bankole, has disclosed that over 190 patients benefitted from the free medical treatment directive of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in the month of April 2020.
Dr. Bankole said that the free medical treatment was in compliance with the Governor’s promise that the State will pay the medical bills incurred by patients admitted to public healthcare facilities during the lockdown.
The gesture, according to her, was a way of lessening the burden of medical expenses on patients during the lockdown in the State.
“This decision of the State Government really assisted many indigent patients, who ordinarily would not be able to afford the medical expenses of undergoing the various surgeries carried out by hospitals which ran into several millions of naira”, Dr. Bankole said.
Some of the beneficiaries at the hospital, commended the State Government for assisting them at a very crucial time when the lockdown negatively affected their earning power.
